Scott's Engaged!!

This blog has obviously been feeling a bit neglected lately, so I thought I'd add a little update. Most of you already know, but Scott is now engaged to the lovely Cat. We are excited to have her joining our family shortly (on September 13th).

Since Scott is interning in Southern California for the summer we've been having fun entertaining Cat and showing her lots of cute (and not-so-cute) pictures of our favorite brother. She has also gotten to hear lots of stories about Scotty's various antics through the years.

They are in the midst of all of the fun wedding madness...

Congrats Scotty!

Girl's Weekend

This weekend is our annual "Girl's Getaway" weekend. Whoo hoo!! While the original plan was to head to Newport Beach for some fun in the sun (and lots of shopping) Mom, Kristina, and Jessica are instead sacrificing their time, and relocating our trip to Utah, to do some hardcore wedding shopping.

First up, hitting all of the bridal stores in Provo and Salt Lake City to find THE dress. Next, finding the bridesmaid dresses. Which one is going to be trickier? All I can say is that it is much easier finding a dress for one person, finding bridesmaid dresses for 4 bridesmaids plus a pregnant matron of honor...that is going to be a blast :)

Other plans include, going out for desserts, ordering our wedding favors, and just spending some quality girl time together. We hope to involve Mrs. Field's along the way somewhere. It should be a fun weekend! Only a few more hours to go...

Adventures in Zion's National Park

Despite some goofball knuckleheads desperately trying to trip us up at ever turn; leaving the keys to the car we need 20 miles away with no ability to get to the car except hitch hiking or calling in family, forgetting walkie talkies....we had a blast. Me, Jon and Nathan survived. Here are the pictures of our adventure hiking, swimming, cliff jumping, repelling:

4th of July - Yachting Style

So, while Jess was spending her holiday watching people pound hot dogs on Coney Island, I opted for a more leisure approach to the independence day holiday. Some friends and I decided to head out on a yacht to enjoy the fireworks from the water this year, rather than the beach.

It was pretty amazing...

4th of July - NYC Style

From Jessie:

I headed to Coney Island on the 4th to see Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi as well as some other competitors battle it out in the biggest event in the competitive eating circuit - the Nathan's Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest! Joey Chestnut set a new work record with 66 dogs, I ate 1 1/2 and was feeling pretty full so I can't even imagine. They kept us entertained before the show with parody rappers singing about food to the tunes of Eminem or others and we even checked out the world Famous Coney Island Freak show after the contest and saw "wolf man" a guy with a disease that caused thick dark hair to grow on his entire body, even his entire face!

Field of Fire

Mom, Dad, Scott, and Nathan represented the family this year at Uncle Karl’s annual 4th of July celebration in Tooele. I think we are ALL pretty jealous that we missed out on this pretty amazing day. As Dad said, “Given that the Provo's fireworks show is known as the 'Stadium of Fire,' Karl's show could be titled the 'Field of Fire.' His show was tremendous and the firemen he hired were very very very busy putting out brush fires through the whole thing. Since we were very close to the action, it added extra excitement.”

What a relief!

It looks like Uncle Sam survived the move from New Jersey...I know we are all thrilled.

I wonder who's bed he'll end up in first :)

Just in time for the Fourth of July too.
